DINING in
a Castle

romantic dining experience shropshire

Dining at Rowton Castle – whether for lunch or dinner – is something that must be experienced, at least once in a lifetime. The restaurant is relaxed, stylish and comfortable. We like to think of it as full of character, yet totally unpretentious.

Head Chef John Margerison, and his incredible team, create locally sourced British dishes, all of which are simply cooked, carefully presented and respectful of the changing seasons.

À La Carte Dinners

Get your knives and forks at the ready for beautiful seasonal flavours. You can expect a menu with an assortment of dishes typical of Rowton’s signature style. Service is warm, intuitive and impeccably timed.

The dinner menu is complemented by a comprehensive wine list, that showcases wines from all over the world. Final orders will be taken at 8.30pm, with the restaurant closing at 11pm.

AVAILABILITY And the Best time to book

The romantic Cedar Restaurant at Rowton Castle is bookable for nightly à la carte dinners; but only, when we are not hosting weddings. We generally open for dinners and castle stays 3-4 months in advance, so do check back if you’re looking for dates further ahead than this.

Are you ready to give Shrewsbury’s best kept secret in dining a try?

Apéritif & After Dinner Drinks

Whilst the cellar is fully stocked with wines that pair perfectly with dinner; before or maybe even after, you might like to sample a gin and tonic (or two) or one of our signature cocktails.

If a French Martini hasn’t taken our fancy (and it usually does), a Gin Mare with Mediterranean Tonic and a sprig of Rosemary will do it – both favourites of ours – you can thank us later!

write to us

We love to chat all things wedding and would be so excited for the opportunity to discuss plans for your day… but, if weddings aren’t the subject of your enquiry (perhaps you have a query about staying in our castle overnight or dining with us), then of course we’d love to hear from you too!
